School Security Training
As required by state law, security guards in K-12 school districts or California community college districts are to complete a course of training developed by BSIS. This affects guards working on school property for more than 20 hours a week. This also includes private patrol operators.
The required training, provided by Firearms Academy, includes the roles and responsibilities of school security officers, laws and liabilities, security awareness in the educational environment, mediation/conflict resolution, disasters and emergencies, and the dynamics of student behavior.
